Frequently Asked Questions

Does telehealth work as well as in-person visits?

There is evidence to support that telehealth can be just as effective as face-to-face visits. If you would like to read more on this topic, here are some articles to review:

What kind of equipment do I need for a telehealth visit?

Generally speaking, any computer, phone, or tablet works with our video platform, so long as you have a video camera and microphone. However, because cell phone reception can be inconsistent in Vermont, it is required that your device be connected to a strong Wifi or ethernet connection during your visit. We recommend that you use a computer if possible.

What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is a professional who started their career as a registered nurse (RN) but returned to graduate school to further their education. Nurse Practitioners can be educated at the masters or doctoral level. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) receive graduate level education in research and direct patient care to provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment, including psychopharmacological interventions and therapy.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

No. This practice does not prescribe controlled substances, including benzodiazepines (ativan, xanax, clonazepam, valium, etc) or stimulants (ritalin, adderall, vyvanse, dextroamphetamine, methylphenidate, etc). If you are currently taking these medications, please seek another psychiatric provider for services.

Do you offer evaluations or screenings for ADD or ADHD?

No. These evaluations are completed by neuropsychologists who receive specialized training in these evaluations.

Will anyone else be involved in my care?

During your appointment, we will make decisions collaboratively regarding who will be involved in your care. Some professionals that may be involved in your care might include your primary care physician (PCP), therapist, or other specialists. It is particularly helpful for me to have recent lab results from your PCP, and I will request a release of information for your PCP prior to your appointment for this reason.

Can you recommend any supplements?

Yes! We can discuss safe, effective, evidence-based supplements.

Our online supplement dispensary can be found here:

If you are interested in supplements, we will discuss this during your appointment. Fullscript can mail the supplement directly to you.

What is the process for making an appointment?

Please look under the appointments tab for more information. The first step is completing a pre-screening form on our website.
